Maurice Cody Child Care has a licensed capacity for 110 children ages Preschool to 12 years.  The Primary Division for Preschool, Kindergarten and Grade One provides Early Learning and Care for 44 children.  The 4 children enrolled in the Preschool group participate in the programme for the Kindergarten children but also spend part of each day engaged in small group activities designed for the specific needs and interests of Preschool children.  Children enrolled in this programme must be at least 3 years and 7 months old and be fully toilet trained.

Preschool Programme Highlights:
  • Planned daily programme and flexible schedule accommodate individual needs, interests, strengths, abilities and learning styles.
  • Opportunity for quiet/active, large/small group, child/teacher initiated activities.
  • Learning activities support emerging language, literacy & mathematical skills.
  • Teacher to child ratios meet or exceed licensing requirements.
  • Outdoor play time on the newly constructed playground.
  • Twelve month programme with full day Early Learning and Care provided on PA days, school breaks and in the summer.
  • Field trips and special visitors on PA days, during school breaks and Summer Camp at no additional cost.
  • Hot mid-day lunch served in a relaxed family style setting as well as morning and afternoon snacks.
  • Mid-day rest period.
  • Story, music and drama experiences are available regularly.
A fun and exciting learning environment which includes:
  • Large block construction area with play enriching accessories.
  • Extensive collection of cognitive and construction toys, puzzles, games and various manipulative figures and other dramatic play props.
  • An enriching collection of reading materials.
  • Wide variety of arts and craft materials including paints, fabric, modelling materials and much more.
  • Dramatic play area depicts real life experiences ( IE. house, veterinary office, supermarket, etc.) and offers real life play opportunities.
  • Listening centre with music and story tapes & CDs.
  • Sensory experiences with sand, water, play dough and other materials.
